Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm that is located on a rotating turntable. Typically, telescoping boom lifts are used for jobs that require reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. For example, workers are able to perform exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but utilizing these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one individual. These buckets are more suitable to specific jobs such as electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available in electric and gas configurations and are offered with both indoor and outdoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Below the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the equipment gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Since these kinds of equipment must be directly positioned below the work location, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, offer bigger platforms that allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface when the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these models, because they must sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for window installation or cladding, because they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a great alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Cherry pickers, boom trucks and bucket trucks each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle used particularly for vertical work. Typically, these types of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand as well as an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for carrying.
Boom trucks take personnel to heights which would usually be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy supplies or equipment from one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types that could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of equipment excel at various jobs and are great for certain applications and accomplishing particular tasks.
