The lift truck is an important piece of equipment in most businesses which operate distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial plants. This wonder equipment, the lift truck is made of many components, like the important carriage, the engine, the power source and the wheels. Lift trucks normally have a range of attachments also. The following are several of the most essential components of a lift truck.
Engine of the Lift Truck - At the rear of the machinery, the lift truck has its power source. The different types of engine on the lift truck will need varying power sources. For instance, a forklift with an IC engine could have as its power source any of the following: diesel, gasoline, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from fuel cells or a battery.
Truck Frame - the base of the forklift truck and the most vital of all the forklift components is the truck frame. This forms the equipment's core. All other lift truck parts are attached to the base, including the overhead guard, counterweight, wheels, axles and mast. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Forklift Parts - While carrying heavy loads, the counterweight allows the machinery to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being carried or lifted on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift provides balance and can function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this area is where the operator sits and drives the machine. Several lift trucks have a cab area which is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are really a lot of parts situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such important parts as the pedals, seats, switches, levers, operator controls and steering wheel. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
