How to Charge a Scissor Lift
A lot of people appreciate the ease of utilizing a scissor lift. The convenience of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket offer much more piece of mind than trying to carry out a similar job working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right option for carrying jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple task to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machine next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button situated near the charger or the control box, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, older models would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in a place which is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger could potentially take place.
