The Carriage
The carriage is like a traditional forklift as the lifting attachment could be tilted forwards and backwards from its horizontal. The tilt that is possible on this machine exceeds more than that of the vertical masts. There is a huge range of lifting attachments offered, and this ability to position makes them as efficient as possible.
Most telehandlers have the capability of tilting to a position that is actually parallel to the ground. Some models have rotating carriages also. This allows the operator to adjust the lifting attachment radially. This translates to the load being capable of being tilted backwards and forwards, as well as side to side.
Load Capacity
Knowing a telehandler's load capacity is a much different exercise than it is on a vertical mast unit. The capacity of the unit is completely dependent on such things like: boom angle and extension, whether the unit is lifting on outriggers or on rubber tires, and the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable. Also, which lifting attachment plays a really important role, as does the wind, the grade the machine is operating on et cetera. All of these specifics could be changing constantly and this gives the operator a lot more information to consider.
Most of the time, telehandlers have several load charts available in order for the operator to reference so they could know the load capacity of a particular lift. Depending on the boom's configuration and the unit in particular, the load capacity may vary by thousands of pounds all together.
