Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an essential device within commercial businesses and industry since the year 1917. During its history the forklift has evolved through various kinds, from a tractor with an attached platform to a specialized high-tech equipment. Forklift tires have also changed into specialized tires, with various types designed to meet specific functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is constructed of rubber or solid polyurethane and is best for indoor applications on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for different load capacities. Cushion tires are commonly used within warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They come in two types: radial or bias. Depending on the application, they are available with various sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Pneumatic forklift tires that are filled with foam maintain constant pressures and are less prone to punctures. Pneumatic tires are usually used outdoors on surfaces that are rough and uneven.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
Solid Pneumatic Hybrid tires combine the comfortable ride of a pneumatic tire with the puncture resistance of a solid tire. They are an option to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Big rubber tires, that could be solid, pneumatic or foam, are utilized on wheel loader forklifts. These tires are suitable for loading and moving bulk objects onto trucks or into processing machines. Large flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts commonly utilized at automobile recyclers, lumberyards and construction sites.
