Reach Truck
In order to keep storage areas tidy and to store supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be utilized. The reach truck is available in quite a few types: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This model consists of telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This model is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
In the majority of warehouses, there are normally more than one kind of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and could make the most of available storage space while increasing production.
